David Tennant joins forces with Sir Richard Branson to launch Virgin Media’s new Collections
Virgin Media launches its new TV ad campaign this weekend, featuring David Tennant, Sir Richard Branson and a time machine. The first of the ads will break during Britain’s Got Talent on ITV1 tomorrow and will bring to life a new range of bundles – Virgin Media Collections.
The ads open on David in front of a TV. The intelligent search and recommendation engine from Virgin Media’s TiVo® Service is showcased in the first ad. David explores his own back catalogue, discovering great TV, on demand shows and movies whilst Richard makes a time travel discovery of his very own.
The second TV ad sees David and Richard in a calming, meditative scene, offering reassurance that all of Virgin Media’s new Collections come with Sky 1, Sky Living and Sky Anytime as standard, so customers never miss out on great shows. And Richard shows off his best whale song rendition.
In the third ad, David enjoys the wonders of an underwater world thanks to a gloriously high definition nature documentary. David keeps his wallet safe from a prying jellyfish’s tentacles and celebrates Virgin Media’s new Premiere Collection, which comes with a wealth of great HD channels and a second HD set-top box included at no extra cost.
Richard Larcombe, director of advertising and sponsorship at Virgin Media, said: “Building on the huge success of our recent TiVo campaign and Usain Bolt and Richard in our high speed broadbandads, the new Collections creative brings together the best of both in a fully integrated offering. The new work uses the superiority of our products to deliver on value, simplicity and choice, all signed and sealed with a Virgin sense of humour!”
Created by BBH, the multi-million pound campaign runs across TV, online and cinema with RAPP handling direct response and BD Network managing retail activity. Media planning and buying is handled by Fifty6.
Virgin Media is the primary media partner of Britain’s Got Talent. The cross-platform brand partnership includes broadcast sponsorship of all Britain’s Got Talent programming, online sponsorship of the official Britain’s Got Talent website, mobile and a host of off-air licensingopportunities.
