With ice skating to the sounds of the Cathedral’s choristers and fabulous, atmospheric Christmas markets, the ancient city of Winchester is looking to steal the crown as the most Christmassy town in England. At the heart of the celebrations will be Winchester Cathedral’s annual Christmas market inspired by the traditional German ‘Weinachtsmarkt’. Christmas shopping can be extremely stressful, forcing your way through the high-street throngs to get to your chosen department store, but shopping at an enchanting festive market can be a lot more fun – with tasty local produce, a beautiful array of arts and crafts and the smell of roasting chestnuts and mulled wine filling the air, you can’t go wrong!
Hungerford in located in West Berkshire and will hold a stunning Victorian Extravaganza in the run up to Christmas. The official opening of the Extravaganza sees the bands start up – the Scottish Pipe Band, the Hungerford Town Band and Phoenix Band, bringing the evening to life and getting everyone in the mood for a very merry Christmas!
