Surrey, United Kingdom (1st March, 2013) – Vocality, a global network router manufacturer and supplier of voice and data network routers to the satellite communications market, has confirmed that it has purchased and integrated the high performance DC-SIP software, the portable Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) stack, from London-based firm Metaswitch Networks.
Metaswitch is a specialist global provider of transitional communication software, developing openly programmable solutions that run on standard hardware or in virtualised environments and act as the key control points in elastic voice, video and data networks.
Their communications software platforms are designed to allow service providers to effectively deploy, provision and brand competitive voice and data services.
A spokesperson for Vocality commented: “This strategic implementation of Metaswitch software into the forthcoming release of Vocality’s Operating System underlines our commitment to the needs of the voice communications user, particularly when operating over fixed or mobile satellite communications networks.
“This acquisition is a vital step forward for our company and we look forward to passing on these new innovations to our clients.”

Whilst Vocality is often considered to be ‘under the radar’ compared with larger router manufacturers, Vocality solutions are usually chosen in preference to commercial alternatives due to the company’s expertise in tactical environments, where size, power, bandwidth and reliability are key considerations.
