London, United Kingdom, (November 30th, 2011)—Today, Marmalade, the company that enables developers to build and distribute cross-platform applications quickly, easily and without compromise, announced the release of version 5.2 of its SDK, which includes new APIs for creating native user interfaces, plus Android 4.0 (“Ice Cream Sandwich”) and the Amazon Kindle Fire tablet.

The new User Interface support included in 5.2 allows developers to build applications with a native platform look and feel, all from a single code base. Instead of having to spend considerable effort re-coding an iPhone UI to run on Android devices, Marmalade 5.2 streamlines the process for developers, allowing them to develop their app code and UI once, and deploy simultaneously to iOS and Android.

Marmalade 5.2 enables developers to quickly and easily deploy cross-platform apps that feel as if they were developed separately for each unique interface. What’s more, a developer coding from a Windows PC can create native looking iOS applications.

Tamir Strauss, EVP of Product for Marmalade, commented: “By creating native user experiences across multiple platforms from the same code base, Marmalade is dramatically decreasing cost and time-to-market for many app developers”.

He further added “By simplifying cross-platform development, we’re opening up the opportunities it presents to the widest audience possible”.

The new version of the SDK also adds support for Android 4.0 (“Ice Cream Sandwich”) and the Kindle Fire, as well as extending Marmalade’s support for Samsung’s bada platform, to include the latest bada 2.0 release.

Marmalade 5.2 is available for download now. The SDK is free to evaluate, with license packages beginning at $149.
