Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (JULY 29, 2010) – Technical Foam Services, Europe’s leading, engineering-biased foam suppliers and manufacturers, are proud to announce they have secured a prestigious contract worth in excess of £50,000, for the supply of large acoustic foam ceiling panels to a major global bank in Dubai. The panels were manufactured from white basotect foam, meeting the stringent fire-retardancy standard of BS476 Pt 6&7 Class O.
The architects first approached Technical Foam Services in March 2010, detailing the anticipated problem of excessive sound within the reception area of the new building. With the total cost of the building exceeding $200 million, it was critical that a solution was found that not only helped reduce the noise to an acceptable level, but the acoustic panels had to fit in visually with the general aesthetics of the modern building.
After several conference calls with the architects, and a site visit by Duncan Geddes of Technical Foam Services, a design was finalized which was the creation of three meter-wide foam discs, suspended nine meters above the floor. Basotect foam, which is melamine based, was chosen because of its excellent sound absorbing properties, it is lightweight, and will not discolor over time. The foam discs were commissioned and installed in June 2010, with full approval by the bank.
