Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (August 12, 2010) – Technical Foam Services, Europe’s leading, engineering-biased foam suppliers and manufacturers, have successfully completed a commission to develop a system for schools to store pupils’ mobile phones throughout the day.
Technical Foam Services understand that many high schools in the UK have struggled for some time now with pupils’ mobile phones disrupting classes. Some schools now take phones away at the start of the day to ensure that they cannot be used, which means they then become responsible for the phones and are expected to keep them safe until the pupils collect them before they leave. Leading foam suppliers Technical Foam Services were approached by a group of leading London-based schools, who had united to find a solution to this storage problem. They needed the firm to create secure metal cabinets, with enough space for 1,200 phones held individually in die-cut foam inserts, with room for a name label between each one.
“This was a terrific commission for us, and we were thrilled to be able to work with the schools to ensure safe storage of pupils’ mobile phones, which can be a real problem when some of these schools have over 1,000 pupils,” commented Duncan Geddes of Technical Foam Services. “We designed and built twelve secure metal cabinets at our own engineering workshop, where we also developed a firm black foam cut to store the phones vertically, allowing safe storage but easy access for the teachers at the end of the day. We successfully completed the project within the given timescale, and all of the schools which approached us will have them in place for the start of the academic year in September 2010.
